In order to assist other motorists in identifying potentially dangerous
drivers, it has recently become compulsory for anyone with a
lower than average driving ability to display a warning flag (comprising of
a red cross on a white background) attached to the top of at least
one door of their vehicle.

For drivers of exceptionally low ability, flags
on both sides of the vehicle are required.

It's always been easy to identify the countries worst drivers without flags - they all drive Volvo's, though it has also been scientifically proven that the most dangerous drivers are women in headscarves.

If you see a woman with a headscarf driving a volvo, leg it! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Got told why Volvo drivers only drive in the middle lane of a motorway.
Too superior to drive on inside lane, and too scared to drive on outside.

Nowt to do with driving ability, more to do with moron ratings. How much longer do we have to put up with all this crap?

I went allong the M6 into Birmingham the otherday and spotted at least 10 'flags' on the central reservation in just a 2 mile stretch.

Errm, beware us Volvo S60 T5 drivers (same as plod drives at 155)

We eat 318's, 320's, 325's, 330's, and only give up when an M3, S4, RS6, E55 or similar comes along.

Why is it that all the 911's I pass are doing 72mph ?

Sounds great - 350nm of torque at 1800rpm through the front wheels. Bet that keeps you awake! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I'm old-fashioned and will stick with my 400bhp through the back wheels. . . . ./forums/images/icons/wink.gif

...keeps the local tyre dealer in business. It's fine in the dry, not so good on a wet greasy road in 1st or 2nd.

4 years ago i ran a Honda Accord Type-R as acompany car - great fun, virtually a Touring Car on the road. Problem was it had a very stiff front mechanical LSD and it used a set of 215x45x17 Bridgestone RE010's every 5 thousand miles at £190 each and only this make was allowed, no substitutions! Wouldn't have been too much of a problem, but my company had signed up for 20k miles per annum contract and I was doing 5k miles per month! It pretty much had a service and a set of tyres each month at a total cost of about £650 and the full maintenance contract payment was only £458 a month!

Never did find out what happened when it went back! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

...no derogatory remarks. Anything with a V8 can't be all bad: you don't need a stereo. Your landie suits your needs (towing, not getting stuck, visibility).

The volvo suits my needs - blasting down country lanes and dual carriageways at reasonable speed in moderate weather, and being able to walk after spending 3-4 hours at the helm (6ft 4, I just don't fit into some cars).

Hmmm, I was gutted when I had to replace a pair of Pirelli PZero Rossos 225x45x17 at 18k miles. Maybe that's not so bad after all.

(I get a fixed allowance each month to go towards the car, so every time I think about smoking the fronts, about 3 out of 4 times I imagine what it would have been like, it's almost as good but a lot cheaper. The fourth time I dump the clutch at 2500rpms and floor it... This explains why you will often see the T5 being overtaken by Fiestas.)

You'll get no criticism from me - all my 3 cars are V8 and two are Land Rovers!

My off-road modded 90 V8 is unstoppable and huge fun and I don't think twice about driving 200 miles to an off-road event, playing all day and then driving home. My other LR is a 4.0 V8 Discovery which runs on LPG and returns the cost equivalent of 35mpg! The only downside is trying to prise the keys from my retired mothers hands so I can drive it! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

You'll only get derogatory replies about LR's from the ignorant, the jealous or those who don't use their LR's off-road where they are supposed to be! /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

18000 miles? You're just not trying! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

The Type-R is all about top-end so you need to be in the 5500 - 8500rpm to be flying, but there is nothing quite like it. Even my current large supercharged motor with nearly twice the power isn't quite as thrilling as the Type-R at full chat even though it's faster.

Fortunately my Type-R was fully funded so could be driven as hard as you liked as often as you like, but I'm in the process of setting up my own business which means I'll be paying for my own car from now on. Doubt it will make me any more careful though - once a hooligan, always a hooligan! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
