Its time to look for new moorings, deep water swinging or pontoon for our 27' Long keel Vancouver 27
Time to change scenery
Any good suggestions?
We used Dover marina, Rye, Brighton, Langstone Harbour, Gosport, Portchester Harbour, Port Solent, Hamble too expensive, Southampton waters ...
Beaulieu is too expensive, Isle of Wight to difficult to get to...
We would like to check some places in France .... or any other suggestions

How about the River Medway. It is a beautiful river to sail on and the East Coast and France (using the benefit of two tides) are day sails away. Free swinging moorings for about £500 plus club membership with a choice of clubs. Alternatively there are two marinas to choose as well for under £3000. If you want more info or advice, just ask.

Birdham Pool? Itchenor Reach?

Thanks, lovely place
we use to have mooring there and thats the one of options to come back eventually as its pretty close to home as well

The place to start would be Chichester Harbour Conservancy, 01243 512301 also consider Sweare Deep, Emsworth and Bosham Channels. At all moorings in Chi be careful to check car parking and tender storage.

Thanks Seajet,
That sounds good place, I have managed to talk to them,
Best Regards

Just moved Scarlet, my SO 30i to Sovereign Harbour. Liking the shelter, pretty cheap by south coast standards, and a daysail to France or the Solent. Good nearby facilities too.

We are still thinking to this year about Gosport Boat Yard, Gosport, good price safe swinging moorings or maybe Eastbourne...Right now we are ashore in Burnham on Crouch. Nice little marina.

There's a HUGE difference !

Eastbourne - nowhere to go or see except cross Channel, pretty much the same or longer expedition to get to the Solent, tidal gates too.

I had a mooring with Gosport Boatyard, they're an excellent bunch and the launch service was fantastic when I was there; downside, nowhere to safely park a car let alone a tender, and the traffic onto Gosport can be a pain, but not an M-25 type one.

If on a nearby mooring, great but you'll still be tidally limited for launch and recovery of the dinghy, unless things have changed - ask - there's nowhere to store one securely.

I'd suggest a proper rigid tender on a trailer, trying to deflate then stow a deflated inflatable inthe back of even a good estate car soon pales off...

If on one of the further moorings like Spider Lake it's out of safe range of a personal tender anyway even with top-up fuel I'd consider it unsafe.

As I say though the ferry launch service is as far as I know still excellent, and I'd crawl over broken glass to be there rather than Eastbourne !

Yes, an idea for the OP

when I needed a deep water mooring years ago, such moorings in Chichester had a 15 year waiting list, dead mans' shoes; very different now, try calling the Conservancy 01243 512301

Be careful to ask about secure car parking and somewhere secure to leave a tender.

Wicormarine (round the corner from Porchester Castle) have some walkshore all tide moorings this year ( and midstream pontoons as well) with parking, secure dinghy storage if you need it and easy access to M27.

Might be worth getting onto the Hamble Harbour list - a mooring for my 25 footer only took 9 months. OK I was lucky but still ...

Or the RAF YC - they have few that they have some moorings that they allow use of by new members. iirc you have to be on the HM waiting list and move off when your HM offer comes through.

Similar arrangement at Warsash SC and Marchwood, although others may be along soon to correct / fill in the details.
