New .... Mooring Cost Index

The backroom staff at PHandy Financial Services Inc have developed a valuable method of measuring the costs of mooring a boat by comparing the cost of mooring the average boat with the council tax costs of the average Oxfordshire dwelling. Currently the index stands at 2.154.

However, my staff have calculated that within 7.5 years the index will be at parity with current rates of increase ....

Distressed householders contemplating fire sale need not be too concerned as not a plugged nickel has been spent on flood defences so average house likely to be v. damp by then ...... and ..... the local gov dept charged with providing temporary accomodation to those made paupers have all got copper-bottomed pension schemes which is the most often cited reason for causing the problem in the first place ....

Sad - but to Bloody true

you have hit the nail on the head - us poor buggers out there on the open market pay (and dearly) for the feather bedding and surity of jobs for all the burocrats including their pensions when our own pensions are probably worthless because the company we were with went bust and had under funded their pensions.

Life's not fair - so how are we going to change it?

Whingers All!

Dew Marine Financial Services has calculated that the Swinging Mooring (including valuable winter storage and lift out/in and launch service) at Rice & Cole Burnham is only 0.7 of total council tax in Rochford Area. This would be further leveraged and advantaged if I had someone else abiding with me, as I have the single occupancy discount.
I am not sure whether I will now get an increased mooring, or a huge increase from RDC for poll tax, as each may seem cheap as a ratio to the other. Lets hope they are not on this forum eh!

Re: Sad - but to Bloody true

aaahhh ... not so fast there .... The Rochford DC PFI initiative (sponsor G Brown in association with POO Ferries Asylum Seekers & Ticket Abuse Ltd) will be along forthwith to check whether accomodation is suitable for asylum seeker. Mooring index less than 1 indicates accomodation capacity much greater than 1 person which is bad news for you as compulsory purchase if you refuse to accept entire family of asylum seekers ....

Ach .. talking aboot asylums .. ah've jist been conversin' wi' the lunatics fae P&O where a day return is cheaper than a single .. ah said "Och I'll jist hae a day return then" response wiz "You can't do that, Sir. If you do'nt come back we'll track you down and charge you the difference!" Apparently they call it ticket abuse. I call it marketing madness!

Re: ticket abuse

What, take away their opportunity for fleecing you twice in the wonderful on-board shops?

Ferry Tickets - one way

Jimi - there is a cartell operating:

Dover Calais £69, Portsmouth Cain £69, Portsmouth St Malo £69 etc.

only way to do it is to buy the return ticket with cash and NOT credit card so that they cannot automaticaly take the rest when the computers show that you have not returned (which they do). To do this you have to turn up at the ferry without any previous reservation - unless you know someone in Portsmouth who could do you a favour. At this time of year you should have a pretty good chance of getting on.

Same lunacy from Poole to Jersey - it is claimed the difference is that no landing fee is charged for day trippers, whilst locals have to pay. Daft.

Re: In leafy Bucks

Where the library service can't afford new books, because of the cost of DVD's, and constant streamlining of the labour force has led to more employees for the council, the council tax is going through the roof.

Is there any other area of British life were you constantly pay more and more for less and less? This great socialist experiment can only end in tears.

Yoy could attempt to land an aircraft on the coachroof. Empirical knowledge would suggest that you would probably slide off though.

Whoa Neddy!!! Of course my accomodation is generously proportioned. I am an asylum seeker. They threw in the yacht because they had run out of Jaguars on the day I moved in.
