New marine park off Sussex to be created.

I always throw back the kelp that comes up with my anchor and it seems to be proliferating up here. I recently noticed that racers with straight keels were claiming bad performance from "kelp" but only bladderwrack, a fine source of iodine, was around

With all of these carbon capture projects one has to wonder when they'll notice the extra methane and other greenhouse gases that increase as a result. I read a paper a while ago which showed that the Amazon rainforest has a net negative effect on climate change for this very reason.

It still amazes me that the root cause (too many humans) is brushed under the carpet every single time. One day there will be 50 billion people in the world, but they'll all be trapped inside and not allowed to do anything, what a daft species we are.

Yes plenty up here to spare. Perhaps we should export it. Is there an industry model there, or has it perhaps been tried before ?

They have in this area, and in others such as off the Dorset coast. But you are right much more to do - not helped with the ongoing battle to escape the Common Fisheries rules.

The effort seems to be directed at fishermen who will probably not be allowed to trawl or dredge inthe marine parks. However if you look at the extent of the area if all the councils follow suit here won't be anywhere to catch fish at all.

Trawling was not practical pre 1987 and as I understand is now banned or limited in that area. The emphasis is on carbon capture as it is that which is flavour of the month for political support and funding. However the biggest real benefit is providing an environment for breeding fish as well of course encouraging seahorses to return.

7235 homes worth of carbon emission capture
Wow
Maybe just maybe stop building 7235 new homes in the vicinity instead
Just .. join.. up..the..sodding..dots people ?
Stop breeding

That is not the issue in this country - population growth (and therefore demand for housing) in the last 20 years is solely due to migration, and the higher birth rate of migrants. Same problem in other European countries such as Germany where like here the birth rate of the indigenous (pre 2000) population is less than replacement. However economy only grows if labour is imported to fill the shortfall.

50 billion!!! You’ve been reading too much Asimov.
