New Marina

A small article in this month's MBY talked of the new Royal Clarance marina at Gosport so I went and had a look. Berkeley homes are converting the old naval yard into apartments shops cinema and marina which will open for business on 1st April. I have to say that whilst at the moment its a bit of a building site, its certainly looks very good for the future. Pontoons power and water are in and the number of boats will be 130. There are spaces available and compared to others in the area good value. I've booked my space.

Any idea of the price of the apartments, and if you get a free mooring with them?

Re: Alexander Marina!

Stick in a few finger moorings, few hundred meters of extension cables and water hoses to the bottom of your garden, advertise the fact that you have security (dogs!), plenty of parking in the road outside the house, listen in on channel 80 a few times a day from your study

Voila! instant marina, tens of thousands in income, and you can swap war stories with JW when we all complain about exhorbitant charges! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

<font color=blue>Power/Water already there. Better yet dig out my bottom paddock which is only a few inches above the summer water table anyway and have a nice compact small marina of about 75 boats. Very nice too... all I need now is the investors.

Investors, digging out!?

Byron, have I taught you nothing, sell it to the unsuspecting newbies, then invest their cash later after they sue you! At great cost, so only 1percent will do so.

Goldmine.

I'll take 10 percent, and might even be persuaded to sell a berth or two on a commission basis

<font color=blue>So sorry Brendan for not remembering what has been taught me at the feet of a master, no need to sell berths though, they would be queueing up to take them. Never a week passes without we get asked if we rent moorings.

Stick a fridge in the garden, fill it with a few beers and sandwiches from Tescos and you can advertise 'full catering on request' too..... I think we're on to a winner here!

I've got 120 feet of mooring on the Thames that I don't use and still keep the boat on the coast.
Please pass the revolver.

<font color=blue>An old caravan or two with a red light hanging outside might be an idea too. As long as there's no lighting inside and its at night maybe my missus could earn a bob or two.
