Yes it could be a fact if Labour win the next election!

After monitoring 'Red Kens' successful congestion charge scheme, New labour are now looking at other area's to tax us further starting with leisure.

The proposed 'Marina Tax' scheme for 2007 has outlined plans to install ticket machines in ALL marinas where as visitors will have to purchase and display a valid ticket!

The tickets on display will NOT be scrutinised or checked by marina staff But by Local Authority Parking Attendants whom will also have the power to chain & padlock a vessel at its mooring until such times fines or monies owed are paid in full, OR worse still removal of the said vessel to a brokerage where upon it would be auctioned to clear any fines outstanding.

In addition a scheme (like the fishing rod licence) is also to be considered for UK residents, the 'leisure Craft Licence' which will be avaliable from all Post Offices for the proposed price of £48.00. This licence will be divided into two categories, 'UK Fresh Water Ways' for canal and river users and 'UK Coastal'. The two can be combined for a proposed discounted price of £62.50 for those whom use coastal and inland waters.

Plus pinch points in the Needles Channel to slow down the traffic controlled by traffic lights.

Dont vote for Labour,But in Europe no other polical name other than blair and sometimes brown are mentioned,

Better remind the other parties the its the media that elects the parliament these days

I suppose there will now be even more boats heading for an already full med??

As opposed to the other lot selling off British Waterways perhaps.

Apparently comes under wasteful goverment spending etc.
So thats water, power and now BW sold off, spect our friends across the channel will be getting ready to buy up a nice little earner.
Wonder which minster will be joining the board shortly after the sale. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

so now , we are going to have traffic wardens on the water, that could be a lot of fun, will we getting tickets for anchoring in a non anchor zone, or tickets for not berthing in an allocated space, just think of all the ways they could make money on us.

God I hope it does not happen!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

As most Marina's are privatly owned, whether it be MDL, ABP etc, wouldn't the ticket inspector be tresspassing if he attemped to gain access?

A traffic warden can not issue a ticket to a car parked on private land, so how can they issue a ticket to a boat in a marina??

Got to admit I'd feel no remorse if I happened to bump into one on a pontoon and he fell in!
