Yes it could be a fact if Labour win the next election!
After monitoring 'Red Kens' successful congestion charge scheme, New labour are now looking at other area's to tax us further starting with leisure.
The proposed 'Marina Tax' scheme for 2007 has outlined plans to install ticket machines in ALL marinas where as visitors will have to purchase and display a valid ticket!
The tickets on display will NOT be scrutinised or checked by marina staff But by Local Authority Parking Attendants whom will also have the power to chain & padlock a vessel at its mooring until such times fines or monies owed are paid in full, OR worse still removal of the said vessel to a brokerage where upon it would be auctioned to clear any fines outstanding.
In addition a scheme (like the fishing rod licence) is also to be considered for UK residents, the 'leisure Craft Licence' which will be avaliable from all Post Offices for the proposed price of £48.00. This licence will be divided into two categories, 'UK Fresh Water Ways' for canal and river users and 'UK Coastal'. The two can be combined for a proposed discounted price of £62.50 for those whom use coastal and inland waters.
