New Jersey Hoax SOS

Been following the report of the Superyacht that was reported "exploded" 21 miles from NJ and now thought to be a hoax by US Coastguard. What surprises me is that they did not seem to have a directional fix on the VHF transmission-I always thought this was automatically done to confirm the casualty location.
Pretty sick and sad thing to do though, particularly for relatives of those on the charter boat Blind Date, if it was out somewhere on charter.

Don't know about the US Coastguard, but ours can't do this any more as the MCA won't pay to maintain the kit. The best they can do is see which aerial it's coming into strongest.
