I posted on here some weeks ago asking for advice about buying a Doral 300SC. Heard nothing bad and lots good so took the plunge and bought the boat! Well, took it out for the first time this weekend. WOW.......does this boat go! She has twin KAD43's 260HP's and the power is just amazin'

35 knots comes up in around 9 secs, push her some more and another surge forward to around 40 knots and that's bloody quick...too quick for me! 30 knots is just fine!!

After my little 28' Sunseeker with it's twin 130HP's it's like being rocket propelled. She was taken in as part exchange at the price I asked! and she's been sold already! and they've only had her a week!

I got her from Essex boatyards and while I agree they do get some dodgy stock, this one really stood out, less than 200 hours in 5 years and immaculate!

They arranged for a bowthruster and an eberspacher to be fitted, excellent installations and delivered on the agreed time for no extra cost. Critisism's?? well their idea of a clean boat fall somewhat short of mine but apart from that....if you're looking for a boat and they have the right one.....buy it! But you've gotta keep looking at their stock everyday to find it.

Happy boatin'

It's a pity such service did not apply to a poor fellow in our marina who has just bought a brand new Doral 30 footer (£98K). It arrived on a low loader, and it was immediately obvious the anti fouling had not been completed on a fairly large section of the hull. Once in the water and loaded, it also became obvious that the antifoul line had been measured with the boat lightly laden, 'cos the water line was 1" above the antifoul line once full of water/fuel etc. It arrived with no mooring lines, fenders with lines so short they could not be used, the TV aerial and various other electrical items not working. On their first trip they had to return when all the electrics went on the blink and the alternator on one of the engines almost caught fire when it got so hot, They completed their trip on one engine, and had engineers crawling all over the boat for the rest of the weekend, to no avail - they had to return still on one engine. There was also a major problem with the boat's wiring loom. After one week of disasters, the boat was returned to to the vendor by a desperately disappointed owner for a complete rework of all these items. Not a good start for the poor fellow!
