I have a new UK Model Icom 710 with ATU that I bought at a chandlers liquidation auction last year as part of a larger lot. I had planned to fit it for a med cruise but now probably will not and think I should sell. Its never been near a boat and i only unpacked it to take a look and check that it receives ok
Can anyone advise me the best place to sell it in the UK and what sort of price I should expect?
thanks

when they were last on the market that combination was around £1600

how much it's worth now is anybody's guess. since Icom announced that it now has a CE approved offering again, probably a fair bit less.

You also need to beware that there were many different software versions of the 710, including one that couldn't be programmed so you had to rely on pre-programmed channels. it was about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. to be sure you haven't got that one, try to program any channel from 1-150. if you go through the motions and at the end it doesn't change frequency, you're stuffed - though you may be able to persuade icom to update the software.

read it on this site a couple of weeks ago - can't find the posting right now and i can't find an icom website either so it may be complete bulls**t.

stop press- i found the icom uk website and they say the 802, the only current model, does not have type approval. i will try to track down where i heard the rumour and sort out the confusion (maybe it was a ham set that was being talked about.)

as good as my word...

Having met Jon Brooks at the RNLI/PBO weekend meeting, I now have been informed by the great man himself that icom will have their new CE approved SSB (the 801) ready at the end of this year, almost certainly available at LIBS. At last.
