New Home for Thames Stream Warning webpages

I'm curious about the need to do that.

EA separating the flow control function from the purely navigation operations.

(But they aren't really wholly separate are they?)

[/anorak off]

Suspicious, I am.

No need to be suspicious - at least I don't think so!

They seem to have recognised that the VisitThames site is primarily directed at the promotion of tourism on and around the river and the boaters information was somewhat lost.

The management of the VisitThames site will now move under the control of Tourism South East.
I understand that all information directly relating to the EA's navigation and licensing activities will gradually transfer across to the new EA web pages. The announcement yesterday re the stream warnings appears to be the first step in that process.

We were told that in the current financial climate , the govt wouldn't finance websites held on external servers ( visit thames is co.uk ) , hence everything is being moved to the govt. servers ( .gov.uk ) which is what the EA site is held on.

I'll have to find out how my login details will be affected , as i update the stream conditions.

Sounds like a very sensible decision!

..although the URL has nothing to do with the location of the servers.
