Hi all
I am halfway through fitting plastimo 608s roller furling on my 7.9m Ecume de mer. I now have to buy a mast ladder, as this morning the string i tied to the halyard to measure the forestay snapped with the halyard 12 inches from the mast head!!! Lesson learned. Anyway, I am going to change the genoa halyard as I have to go up the mast anyway and it has been a bit stiff for a while.
What is the best size/ material for a halyard on roller furling genoa for an 8 metre boat?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers

I would have thought 10 to 12 mm max why not use dynema Jimmy Green do offcuts up to about 30 M you could then use the smallest size, but best to measure the sheave which will indicate the maximum size you can use.

Be carefull about using string to measure forestay length it will stretch! use wire or better still the old forestay.
