I am about to purchase a new genny. The sailmaker is offering it in either Marblehead or Contender Supercruise. I was going down the Marblehead route per stuff on the forums. However the sailmaker recommends the Supercruise because he says, it's more flexible. Now this might mean it's easier for him to make ! The price is the same for either fabric. What do we think ?

Marblehead is the premium blue water cruising Dacron from Challenge sailcloth. They are the most tightly woven fabrics in the world which means the fabric relies on the weave rather than resin for bias durability. In the real world this means your sail won't stretch as fast and will keeps its shape for longer.

Supercruise is the most affordable fabric of our woven sailcloth range and has a quality Polypreg finish for a reliable performance.

i think i would have marblehead

Have just made the same choice.

Marblehead in the lighter weights is a great performing cloth for the life of a roller genoa. On the other hand supercruise is a stronger cloth in heavier weights 7 oz and above. The longevity of supercruise would out perform marblehead on sailing longer trips, because of better UV resistance in the heavier weights.

That's interesting, is that because it's bigger threads or something else please?
Is there much cost difference between them?
