(subtitle: biting off more than you can chew!)
I am planning to replace my standing rigging and on the advice of the supplier will be taking the old rigging to them to match up rather than rely on the written specs in the manual.
The forestay has Schaeffer furling fitted and looking agh the Schaeffer installation manual it appears that some riveting is required when these furlers are installed, implying some drilling required for disassembly?
If anyone has done this can you advise whether it is a big del to dis-assemble it. Would it be simpler to bite the bullet and have the local rigger do the forestay only. (He was nearly twice the cost for the whole job, when he estimated it for me). If I DIY then is it just standard monel 'pop rivets' or will I need proprietary spares and a special rivet gun?
Thanks in anticipation, as always!
