Thinking about a new engine as present Volvo 2003 is 30 years old and beginning to show its age. Any recommendations as to engine make? We will need about 28 hp I guess and ideally one that requires minimum structural work to beds etc. in our Westerly Corsair. We will winter in Leros marina - does anyone have experience of re-engining here?

No direct experience but I have seen re-engining (is that a word?) by others. The mechanic Manolis is very competent and I would trust him to do any mechanical job. You need to be careful about costs. Get a firm figure, including labour, from the office before agreeing to anything.

Otherwise, Agmar at the north end of the island are extremely well recommended but you would need to be hauled out there. Same warning on costs up front.

We are second boat on the south side on E pontoon for the next few days. Call in for a chat.

We had to re-engine last year in Leros, but decided to do it in Marmaris. Friends towed us there. The engine was cheaper (and we could get the VAT back, though with some hassle) and the price and quality of workmanship were excellent.

I re engined near marmaris too. Price of a 3YM was v similar to uk but as mentioned you can get the vat back which makes the trip worthwhile. Yanmar agent there is excellent, Marlin Yachting.
