New Engine for a Centaur

I am planning on re-engining my Westerly Centaur this winter.
Yanmar want to know the maximum boat speed and max prop size. Can anybody help?

You sure you want the Yanmar? Re-engined my mate's Centaur with a Beta last year (Nanni very similar too) both freshwater cooled and an easy (ish) swap. From memory I think we quoted them top speed 6 knots, and 14" prop size...

Take a look on the WOA Yahoo group as there have been several discussions on the Beta.

IMO Beta seems to be the way to go, with many happy owners and simple installation... aided by the helpful and knowledgable people at Beta.

I have no assoc. with Beta but hope to re engine mine soon.

This is an email based group that the WOA has had going for a long long time. The online forum is a more recent development and with out opening a can of worms there is a debate as to which is best... each having their own following.

The Yahoo based group has had several discussions on engines of late and you will be able to see the old messages on the web once you sign up. Then you can choose to recieve the emails as they are posted thru the day.
