Rumour has it that MBM has a new Editor...a chap called Simon Collis, currently Editor of Motor Caravan Magazine (so maybe TCM will get his wish for a kettle mega-test after all). And rumour also has it that Carl Richardson is returning to MBM after a brief stint at MBY. Hmmmm...

har har Motor Boat and Yachting (incl Caravanning) Magazine

I reckon a really good idea would be to get all the old caravanning mag articles and substitue all occurences of the word "caravan" for "boat" and hence win loads of new articles. Mind you, er has this been done already?

But is it possible to be editor of a motor boaty mag even tho you haven't been on a boat very much? Yep, in fact some companies have demonstrated that it's even possible to BUILD boats even tho hardly anyone has ever been to sea in the whole company. Anyway, a recent transport sec couldn't drive, the chancellor doesn't know his times table and the "prime" minister is actually the most daft person in the cabinet, so i am sure all will be well at MBY.

I kid you not...am sure middle-management have identified a synergy between caravanners and MBM readers, and want to leverage their position blah blah blah (yawn)...

Yeah, I'm good, thanks Dom. Freelancing for various mags including France magazine, Sports Boat & RIB, All At Sea, and Cruising World, so keping myself amused (very amused, when I heard the news)

oops MBM not MBY : mbm/caravan synergy

AHA - MBM not MBY.

Of course, i understand that this is a Big Career change, as MBM and Caravanning magazine addres UTTERLY and TOTALLY different markets, one catering for wrinkly olde caravan owners who spend holidays and weekends in their mildew-ridden and rotting hovels eating old garibaldi biscuits, making cups of tea, fixing things with all with the wrong tools, trundling their sleeping baggy belongings from one miserable rainy overnight location to another and comparing tales of woe with others doing the same in week in week out...... WHEREAS MBM caters for er wrinkly olde MOTORBOAT owners who spend holidays and weekends in their mildew-ridden and rotting hovels eating old garibaldi biscuits etc etc....QUITE DIFFERENT.

Re:Spot the Difference

As TCM says, he should be ideally suited to the task. After the storms and floods he probably has some experience of mooring and other marine skills.

In fact if he has a motorcaravan bent he will probably find the slow and thirsty MOBO's a bit of a let down.

Vital experience will be brought to the editorial suite.

"Instead of a £99.95 replacement flogglepin genuine spare part from the swindlery you can use a widget from the local caravan place at £1.99. Fits exactly and you'll see the same maker's name on the side."
