Never have I seen such a pompous back slapping magazine as today attached to the bill for £636.
I would appreciate it if the EA could get the basics right before they congratulate themselves for such a good job!
Some water under the keel would be good, and actually getting twelve months use for twelve months money would be most appreciated!
On page 8 of this "modesty magazine" (that we are all paying for), they state that 378 less annual registrations and 175 less visiting gold registrations this year - These previously-paying customers presumably dont agree that a good job has been done???
And neither do i...
If DWT thinks that everything is rosy and wonderful, I would be delighted to forward my bill to him for settlement.
extract re Thames registration - Least they could do is get the detail right (and the download forms have the wrong year).
The charge per square metre for 2008 is £14.07 so for a launch with a chargeable area of 10, the registration charge would be £140.70..
So what's the per square metre charge for 2009? (as I have a cruiser to register)
You can spread the cost by 6 equal instalments (January to June), or make 1 full payment.
To take advantage of the 6 instalments option for 2008 you will need to send a completed mandate form, together with your registration form, to us by 1 January 2008. If you wish to use your launch on the 1 January and pay by direct debit then you must return your mandate and registration form by the 14 December 2007.
also Are you aware of the winter lock maintenance programme? If not, please follow the link at the top of this page.
What link?
Our version of the mag dropped through the door last week detailing the completion of the modernisation and electrification of our tidal lock, spending plans over the next couple of years and proposals for the future.
They will be spending around £5 million improving and replacing landing stations plus lock gates and providing additional badly needed public moorings, but sadly no plans to buy back all our lock cottages and buy uniforms for newly recruited lockeepers. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Also articles covering Rye and improvements facilities in coastal areas covered by the authority
All in all a welcome effort to keep us Mudway users up to speed.
The first of the improved moorings at Yalding.
The lock just below this is shut until next spring to replace gates and to cut steps into the chamber wall for better access.

It was Friday night and I was half way through a very nice bottle of red wine. I will happily take an assignment of your bill provided your boat comes with it as part of the deal.
I find a red wine accompanyment the only way I can stomach anything from the EA!!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I also just re-read the article on long service achievements of Lockies, two of which mentioned in that artice were on the "hitlist" to lose their homes (now reprieved but not at time of editing/printing.)
What utter bulldust this mag is, on the one hand "we congratulate our staff" and in the background the hatchet is being raised.....
