New cruiser/racer

With the patronising copy on their website, they do not deserve to sell any at all.

I have a 1980 UK built boat, not a blister in sight, and dry inside.

No transom -not 'ansome . . . and never a sensible option for cruising surely.

Open plan, no woodwork, doesn't look like there's much storage space, and they are raving because they've managed to get CatB for it!

Thoroughly hideous and surely not cheap at £45.000 . . . with roller reefing as an extra. 'Realistic' sailaway price doesn't seem to include an anchor either . . .

Surely no-one is going to buy one of these to go cruising? Just for once I would have to suggest a Bavaria . . .

And the website is pants too.

There must be some reason why they bothered - I can only guess that it must be a very exciting boat to sail.

Is that supposed to be a nav station on the 290 - it doesn't even fit a half folded chart! And have a look at the weather helm in what is hardly a strong wind.

But there is enough chart table to support your wrists while punching buttons, what else does a yachtsman need?

I looked and can't see the problem. You've not mistaken the backstay for the tiller have you? The rudder blade looks about straight ahead.

Re: They will be quick

Looks as if they will be quick ,but I would have reservations about suitability for cruising in british /European water. I would keep an open mind and not be too quick to condemn them without a trial sail;

Funny . no-one I bet ...

The post announces a new boat .... bet no-one amongst posts has one or even tried one ... but all seem to condemn !!

I don't like the look of it I must admit - but being in the throws of importing a new line of boats myself - actually far better than these are and faster with good categorys etc. - I feel a product needs testing before condemnation ...

Re: Funny . no-one I bet ...

The smaller two boats appear to be sailing in a Force 1, heeled to leeward despite the crew sitting out to windward! Have they got moveable water ballast or fatties sitting down below for photographic purposes. If they are heeling like this naturally I can only think that they are very unstable.

Re: Funny . no-one I bet ...

The problem is for 45k+ there is a wide range of boats available secondhand that are dry, seaworthy, have a damned good pedigree and have oodles of kit with them.

My own cost 20k and fills the above criteria.

Not only that but after reading the "about" page would you buy a boat of this man /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

He's probably a lovely chap but this picture just screams "oi! your nicked san" or "You talk to me like that san and I'll introduce you to johnny swords" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just thought of another "I dint sell a boat to you mate must have been someone else, I only deal in second hand pedigree vessels" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Funny . no-one I bet ...

"She can realistically sail away as standard" ... and you'll have to ... there is an outboard bracket on the back, but no engine!! - according to standard invetory ...

IMO she certainly isn't the most pleasing vessel to the eye .. but you'd've thought they would have got some professional photos done - all grainy and mostly out of focus.... perhaps they expect your eye to fill in the details they've missed /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
