I am thinking of indulging mayself in a new shrimper. We are a young family of 3 who enjoy day sailing and the occasional night or two aboard. I'd welcome advice from experienced forumites based upon a 'minimum boat' philosophy.

I think the 2+2 vsn offers greatest flexibility
I would like an ob vsn because my sailing and mooring circumstances require little in the way of an engine. I'd be interested in views on the lowest hp to manouver round the odd harbour and to ghost along in light airs.

Any advice on the 'must have' extra's

I will lift in and out at the start and end of the season. In addition probably do one trailer trip in the summer. Can you advise on the best trailer arrangement for this ? Are trailers generic or do a i need a shrimper trailer ? Anyone know of pragmatic hire/ loan arrangement for what seems like a costly bit of kit for occasional use ?

Many thanks,

Mark

I wasn't going to mention that, but as a Cape Henry 21 builder I tend to agree. Re. The trailer, the Cape Cutter builders sell a few of their trailers to Shrimper owners. Works better.
