Have just installed a new cooker and tried the hob for the first time and the burner turned straight from silver to a copper colour and the pan supports turned black has happened on both hobs in under 2 mins burn time? They look worse that the 30 year old one that I removed.

Have contacted manufacturer and awaiting a response.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Lee

Is it causing soot if so the air port's are possibly blocked is the flame yellow ? if the flame is orange/blue it may just be discoloration of the metal through heat. If the flame is yellow and it is causing soot don't use it until it's sorted.

It is possible that the metal has been coated with something to keep it shiny in the box. Wait for the comments from the manufacturer ..... but you might end up using a scourer or say 1200 wet or dry paper to clean it up
