New companionway step

I have been lucky to 'acquire' from my friendly boatyard some teak ready laid out in strips (stuck to a sort of fibre glass matting or something) and caulked, I just need to cut down to size, fix and caulk the edges.

I’m not going to cut it like the original ‘picture frame’ type setting as I think it’ll be too fiddly & I’ll probably ruin what I’ve got.

Would appreciate thoughts on what would be the best way of laying it, ie: the strips running port -> stbd, or bow to stern (I’m think port to stbd)

Side to side for steps but bow to stern for other applications
