New cockpit look

Some of the reasons why I am late getting back into the water this spring.
Was fed up of the old rotten leaky wooden seats/lids in my cockpit, so ripped them all out and laminated new lids in grp.
In doing so I also reinstated sb side quarter berth, which had been done away with and its space opened up from the cockpit to make a locker which was accessible by lifting sb side seat/lid.
Am pleased with the finnal results.
Am considering taking up grp repairs in this area, so if anyone needing work done, pm me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah, it goes like that doesn't it? You decide to do a "smallish" job, which snowballs because "I may as well do that bit while this bit is out".

I'm dead chuffed with my new grp instrument console, so I can guess how you feel - it's great to turn out a "professional"-looking job. And the boat only came out of the water because I had a leaking stern gland /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I do hope so, as I wouldent like to think I spent all that time and effort on the wrong boat. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
7sq mtrs of 600g csm and 1/3 gallon of resin on each of the big lids with ply laminated in on the underside and hard wood batton frames laminated in also.
5sq m of same cloth, 1/4gal resin and plywood laminated in on the smaller transverse lid, + the gel coat.

No, its a Hummingbird 30, which were layed up in the altered mould of the E30, with a modified stern, which was retrouse on the E30, which dident have the lazerette that was added to the Hb.

(Pssst, I guessed it wasn't really an Elizabethan when I peeked at your profile earlier /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif It was the half-timbered ambience that threw me at first)

No I completly glassed over the opening which had been cut out to make the locker, so when the seat lid is lifted there is just a flat grp surface under, apart from a small round locker at the aft end which is outwith the berth area, ie further back than the aft berth bulkhead.
There is still a very large locker on the ps, but I had to glass in a raised lip (coaming) to stop any rain water from finding its way in.
There is a (original) secondry lid under the aft transverse seat lid.

Suppose the wood would have looked great when it was new, but it was very tatty, and badly thought out in the first instance, as it leaked water in all around, and gave the impression of a smaller cockpit
But if your cockpit is grp and you would like it converted to wood just give me a call and I could quote you for the conversion. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Don't pay any attention to him; it looks fine as it is and the cabin will look good too when your Polish electrician tidies up his work.

By the way, being of a lazy disposition myself, if you posted your photos straight into the forum we wouldn't have to keep clicking on the links to see them and you'd get more viewers.
 
I'm most impressed with the handholds coming forward in the saloon. Proper stuff that. On a blustery day you can dance 'strip the willow' on the way for a pee.
