I posted here a couple of times during the autumn when I was seriously considering to buy my first boat. Partly thanks to all your support - the search is now over and I decided to take the final step in late November and go for it! My new-to-me Monterey 250 CR arrived home to Scandinavia from the UK a couple of weeks ago and she is now safely in warm storage waiting for the summer (the boating season here starts usually around the 1st of May). She's a 2005 model, nicely equipped, with a Yanmar 240hp diesel engine, bowthruster, all the usual goodies and heating that was fitted as part of the deal.

So, once I get her out on the water, as a first-timer I will probably come back here with some stupid questions about everything related to the boat itself and boating in general!

I actually have one question already to any owner of a similar boat: the user manual says that there should be storage space behind the cabin mirror. I tried to remove it but it feels very tightly fitted and I didn't have the heart to use brute force just yet. Is the manual right and there really is space behind the mirror?

Just had a quick look at this pdf/brochure.

If it's the same, it looks as though the locker behind the mirror - similar to many boats - is the anchor chain locker, so it should open to allow access. Does it look the same as this?

I would say that there is a storage space behind the mirror however the access to this storage is via the anchor locker hatch on the bow...

Hi, congratulations on buying a great boat, we owned one until May this year and loved it!

As to your question above, there certainly is not any storage you can access by removing the mirror, as other have said, the anchor locker is behind there, which I'm sure you are aware you access from the foredeck.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as we enjoyed ours :)

Thanks guys, as I said stupid questions are coming your way...:) Even though I found it a bit strange I thought there could have been enough room for a small locker even in addition to the anchor locker, but this obviously isn't the case. Still I think the wording in the manual is a bit misleading here (or maybe it's due to me being non native English speaker)....

Great choice, we sold ours earlier this year but only to upgrade. Good all round vessel and fantastic fun when you get all the covers down.
