Found out I need knew anodes,figure I need 4X 10oz
11 metre boat, all steel, weight about 20 tonnes (so they reckoned on lifting it out).
There was 4 on previously, but estimated guess on size and weight.
Advice welcomed, also best and obviously most cost affective place to get them, boat is in Hull.
thanks for any advice
Pete

Hi Pete - you tried Kildale Marine opposite the marina in Hull ? Not the cheapest but very helpful people. (My boat's at Hull).

Try searching on t'internet if you want cheaper.

Thanks but just been on a search engine.
I was talking 10oz, they are talking kilos, and Zinc, aluminium magnesium, etc.
what and which size, for an 11metre boat all steel used Humber, sea, and inland if i can?
Any suggestions??

If mainly salt/brackish water use then zinc.

As to number and size depends very much on the boat - the quality of it's coatings, exposed metals underwater, and drives (eg special requirements for the drives themselves if outdrives or water jets). For example, our own 12m steel boat (a yacht) has just one smallish anode one side and probably does not even need that.

If the four anodes you mention seem to have worked in that there is no evidence of galvanic corrosion, and nothing else has changed, then the safe thing is always to just carry on with the same. The main thing likely to cause a change towards increased risk of corrosion is increased use of a shore power connection, should there be one, which can lead to problems if the earth conductor to shore is not isolated by a galvanic isolator or isolating transformer.

As an aside, 20 tonnes seems alot of a weight for an 11m pleasure boat.

The most relevant factor is what fittings are on the boat and what anodes do you need to fit them. I would have thought you were looking for anodes around 1 kilogram in weight.
