New boat

[ QUOTE ]
I think maybe its because half the base of the radar arch is over the glass, kind've looks like it should slide down a bit further!!

Great minds......

Jez are my eye's playing tricks or is there a stainless rail round the top of the windsceen...sort of like they have on Windy's??

[/ QUOTE ]

No, there is a stainless grab rail round the inside of the windscreen - good for the helm/navigator to use, also when entering the cabin.

Bit like Saab, they make odd cars which are driven by odd people.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes. I always feel much odder when I'm in the Saab rather than the Rangie. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

[ QUOTE ]
Indeed!!!! Although I'm not saying its a bad thing, its just different!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh, I agree. Wouldn't put me off buying one just think it would be even better on the eye.

The way the arch sits looks to me like a design statement rather than being necessary for support. I think there's a real Chris Bangle look to it. The sort of thing which looks wrong initially but grows on you like the BMW 5 series. I'd be wary of telling your designer to change it!

Well, quality-wise it's the best walkaround in that size range, to my knowledge.
Though I must admit I'm also not a fan of walkaround design...
Wally makes a similar 'tender', actually bigger, but even uglier imho.
Do you know any better alternative?
I haven't seen any other real walkaround so far in the other posts.

The thing is you see loads of 5 series a day so get used to them, unless the boat is one of the UK 4 chances are you'll be lucky to see one a week with no chance to get used to it.

I think with a new boat first impressions count, you wouldn't buy one and hope you grow to like it, design statement or not.

How about a Nimbus?

yea
loved it at LBS, though £160k for big D6 seemed a terrifying amount of money. Cockpit has extremely high side screens, so you feel really safe, though down below is severely compromised given the price.
Still, remarkable looking boat (except on the LBS boat the cockpit table was positioned in such a way you couldnt use it)
