As a hobby, I develop the Rustler Yachts website. We have just added a couple of videos on the front page, and the Rustler 33 page and I thought updates like this may be of interest as they show the sail trials of the new 33.

I do have an interest in this, in that some of the footage was shot by my son, the rest by Ocean Images.

Not a commercial posting as I do it for a hobby, but if the moderators are not happy, please let me know and I will not post updates in future.

The video is here. http://www.rustleryachts.com/

simple, clean, not full of incomprehensible Java, quick and lots of colour and pics. One of the best 'builders' sites out there.

(Hope you get a good discount on the next one :D. )

Lovely boats and nice people. A British manufacturer that we ought to support when possible.
PS Liked the video as well!

clicked on the link, site opened but nothing came up. Using Firefox and XP. Had another go using Opera and it worked fine. My problem or yours?

Wasnt keen on the music tbh but photos were good.

Out of interest, anything happening on the 37 which I think is based on a redesign of the Starlight 35?

I think the problem may be yours as I have tested here on Firefox, iPhone, iPad, xp, IE and Safari. Please let me know if the problem persists so I can try to find a solution.

Yes, music is a tough one. Perhaps we need to have buttons so you can select different genres? Time consuming though, as to work properly the tempo needs to be time-matched to the video.

The plan for the 37 has changed. Initially the idea was to use the Starlight 35 and simply add a couple of feet to the same base hull, as was done with the 44 ( plus some freeboard increase) . When this was drawn up it was concluded that the process was in fact not ideal.

So, a brand new hull has been designed, by Stephen Jones. The drawings on the website are now correct to that new concept. There are several interested owners, and I believe Rustler are just waiting for firm commitments from a few and then the button will be pushed for production.

I think it is a really exciting new boat. Should be a bit like a small Rustler 42, which sails superbly, but for considerably less money. Perhaps we will see the first one at SIBS next year.

As an aside, I relly enjoyed working with Rustler to build the first 44. It's not every boat builder that will really engage with an owner and take their input as part of the standard design of a new model.

If there is someone out there wanting a new boat, and with the interest to be involved from the ground up, it is a process I can highly recommend.

If I didn't already have a boat I would be very keen myself.

Good video. Couple of ideas, pm sent.

Having enjoyed a quick walk through of Rustlers premises in the summer ( and seen the 33 in mould) I was dead impressed with the place, though what really interested me was the woodworking set up, which impressed in spades. Good boats are all about detail and quality over 'beancounter' spec. Over the longer term anyway.

Wonderful videos, very evocative, and nicely produced, and very much in keeping with the brand.

Very nice vid/photos with a real feeling of craftsmanship.

I agree with Bosun Higgs re the music, not good. It needs to be uplifting, inspiring with a hint of emotion, aspiring to freedom. Music is tricky and very important. Consult a professional.

Very good. I liked the music (there is always the mute button). Worked fine with Vista/ Firefox.

I have just watched the video on the front page. Windows 7 and latest firefox.

Worked great. Liked the music and thought the Vid was 10/10.

I now want a Rustler to go with my Gunfleet. :)

Thanks for all the comments.

Good to hear it runs on lots of platforms. I had a look at the google analytics and IE is about 50% with Safari, Firefox and Chrome making up almost all of the rest.

Next time we get video footage I will post again.

And it sails well too....

Just had my first sail in the Rustler 33. It was doing a demo day at RLYC, so I cadged a lift from Yarmouth to Lymington.

25 knots over the deck and a bit of Solent chop, but close-hauled she remained reasonably dry. What I liked most was the no-slamming and smooth passage through the waves.

Seemed quick enough, but as the boat speed wasn't properly calibrated we were only really able to rely on SOG. A few rigging tweeks and I am sure she will fly.

It was particularly interesting to listen to the sail trimming and rig comments of Stephen Jones, the designer, who was with us. Learning all the time for me - I think I understood about half of what he was talking about, which is more than when we first sailed my Rustler 44!

All I need now is the villa in the sun somewhere so I can park it outside.
