Thanks Graham can I run this by you as you know the estuary well

Im thinking of mooring a smaller bilge keeler outside my house so in nice evenings I can put the waders on and go for a sail

Nothing expensive just in case it gets vandalised and sunk i was thinking of making my own mooring ring in a concrete block
so no moring exs
what do you think i live 1 mile up river of the new severn bridge
Am I mad ?

Its not mad at all .You will need access to the water to launch a dinghy if its close enough to the shore to wade out you will only get a very short time afloat.

I am not very familiar with the Estuary above the Bridge, Snoopy is the man to speak to,have a look on the Bristol Channel Forum. What about Thornbury YC ? They have moorings for small yachts in Oldbury pill. You could probably sail the Wayfarer there as well.

Don't worry about them, they're just for noise control and/or tilt adjustment.

Noise varies from flap flap flap through flutter flutter to silence then metallic donk at the middle of the spectrum.

Tilt can vary, but it's best left on default for maximum ride enjoyment. However, if you have drinks in the cockpit, minimise the tilt control - could be vv expensive.
