I am purchasing a new boat and have a couple of questions. The first is regarding the Genoa tracks. There are 2 sets, one inboard by the coach roof, the other outboard on the rail. I would assume it would be to adjust the sheeting angle for upwind/downwind but is this correct? I was also thinking the outboard tracks could be for an off wind sail?
Also, it has a plotter at the nav station but I would want something at the helm pedestal. The supplied cables on the plotters are frustratingly short. What wire size would be needed to extend the power cable (length approx 3m or so). Worth mentioning current instruments are 0183 rather than N2K
Thanks in advance

If you have an inner forestay, a staysail will be sheeted to inner tracks. If retrofitted, on the inside of the side decks is not uncommon. If part of the original design probably would be on the coachroof.

1mm cable will be fine for the plotter power.
