Well, after 4 months of trials and deliberations we put our order in for a new boat yesterday evening, a Hunton 43. Since we're not too far from the factory I may be able to put up posts of the build in progress when it starts next April. Feeling poor but elated this morning!

cheers,

Hi Jez,

Its the RS since we have children and one of the reasons for the change is to go far down France, so we have no choice but to go diesel and live with the performance drop - that said the new D6 370s should go well in her, the 350s we tested were super and 45 knts was v. comfortable with them.

cheers

That order sounds very exciting, and having a long-distance voyage plan is a great incentive during the cold winter. You could always stop on the way down and pick up a few new sample embryo lines...

On behalf of my employers, thank you for choosing a big boat ! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congratulations and excellent choice imho.

I for one would be very interested in updates as we are thinking about one of these or the new SS Superhawk 43 as a fast dayboat for Mallorca.

Oh no, now I really want one of those and yesterday I didn't know they existed!

Are you having the red, yellow or green hull? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Sorry - blue and grey, really boring but looks fantastic. Also going for a new higher windscreen option which we tried on Thursday evening, it enhances the look of the boat making it even more sleek and sheered also it makes it very comfortable to drive and ride in over long runs since the wind turbulence is much reduced - also a bit quicker for the same reason.

cheers,

Hi,

We looked at the SS but I have to say we're already Hunton owners and for us it wasn't too hard a choice - one is virtually a custom boat on a proven race hull and the other isn't. That said the design of the SS cockpit gives you much more space so its horses for courses. We will always trade space for handling but that is dictated by our boating and the fact that the boat is at the bottom of the road so its never a weekend cottage. The only way you'll really judge what's for you in these sorts of boats is to drive them - ideally in the rough. I think having to test these (and the Windy Bora) against one another is not too horrid a task!! Enjoy whatever you choose.
