Ok, it's not quite in the Gludy stratosphere but my project to build a trimaran is nearly finished. Stuck it all together today and took a few shots. See Here

An opportunity for you all to get theoretical and decide what I've done wrong.
It has a Topper mast and boom, but a sail off a similar, but less swift dinghy. In the picture it has a 20" extension on the mast to raise the boom so that there is room for the fartchair. The main hull is a flatbottomed dory I already had.

Just realised I haven't made a lee-board yet. Shouldn't take long. Fairweather is my yardstick.
A webcam sailpast will rely on a steady breeze as I am not putting a motor on, so I don't have to register it, so I don't want to get becalmed and have to paddle miles.
The floats are indeed to stop me falling over. I tried the dory on it's own and it's very keen to tip me out.

I am a bit concerned that it may pitchpole, being as it's a bit short. Still, I should get it going so quick!

You might have made a nice wooden top for the mast like a Mirror has

Its after midnight and it looks great.
Leeboard sounds good, you may need to experiment fore and aft before positioning it.
Something tells me the ammount of rocker on the 2 outriggers will determine how easily it tacks..;
If you plonk an electric trolling motor on there do you still need registration?
Think it definitely needs an asymetric spinnaker and retractable sprit at some stage
Is there to be a forum name poll and a suitable naming ceremony ?

Silliness apart ,nice one . and well done.

You painted it shark grey ...da dum da dum dadum dadum dadum....I reckon its a qboat really

I am pretty sure that there'll only be one float in the water at a time and haven't built any camber in yet as I could have spent ages making bevelled mounting pads and got the angle wrong anyway. The pads there now are removable so I can experiment with the angles after I try it out.

Outstanding Lakey !

Have to admit that I was pretty inspired after our last discussion and after a few glasses of wine reckoned that I could convert my old knackered 505 into a tri. it means all my rigging, layout etc are all provided for

A few years ago my E-Boat mast broke in two and very conveniently each half is almost exactly the same size. So that is my cross beams sorted. Looking at the construction of your amas looks like the best way forward for mine.

Will keep you posted

Regards
Cameron

Looks like a nice job. I presume the outer hulls are stitched up sheets of ply?

Looks a tad under-canvassed, though. What you need's a taller mast, and the fart chair mounted on a pivoting arm, so that you can swing yourself out over the windward hull in comfort, without the palaver of harnesses or trapeze wires /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Interested to see how it sails.

The sail is a little small. It's there until I get a feel for how it performs. I do have an old main from my Foxcub and the offer of an Enterprise mast, although the concept was for an unstayed mast that would split and fit inside the hull for transport, which the Topper one does.
I do have a headsail that came with the main that cunningly fits without a forestay. However that will need a bowsprit and I really wanted to stay with a una rig. I'd also need to move the mast aft and I only have one more hole at present.
I may get a Topper main or adapt the Foxcub main. Or I could look at Laser sail.
Depends on the early promise. If it sails like a slug I shan't bother, although it was trying to leap off the trailer when I was taking pics. I had to tie it down.
