Just saw this boat HERE and thought of Alt! He wanted the smaller version (monticello) but could not get one. Now he is interested in an S28...so why not get the Doral Prestencia, twin diesel, 2003 and only £55k (although a deal could be done at £50k!)...these are £117k + for for a new one....

Cheers

How very kind of you to think of me! That's a cracker of a boat, but 2 issues:

1) Those 1.7 merc engines, i've had one, and thankfully never had any trouble with it (sold it from new at 100 hours) - But these things blow themselves up. They had issues where the wastegate hinge would seize, the turbo would over boost and POP goes the engine. Main contributer to the problem was salt, in that when this engine was marinised (Isuzu/Opel block) they didn't marinise the little things like wastegate hinges, and the salt would cause them to rust/seize. In theory, a wastegate shouldn't need to operate often (if at all), but the thing was that the engines were being overloaded by being put into big heavy boats, or too high of a prop. I was advised to UNDER prop mine and just never push the throttle so that it would go above the recommended WOT RPM. Also the ones whose serial number did NOT start with 88 suffered holed pistons on piston No. 3 due to a bad spray pattern - If anyone wants more info (ie. owner of one of these engines) PM me for my mobile number, can't be bothered typing any more

2) I've my heart set on an S28 and reckon i'll have one before the start of next season all things going well /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Have to laugh at the description:

"Collection only" - Damn, was hoping they'd post it Royal Mail!

"Paypal only" - Does he realise the fee's he's gonna incur on a £55k transaction through eBay??

"TV and kettle not included" - Shucks! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Jeez...... the kettle was the dealbreaker,if it was included iid say alt would have jumped at it /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Nauti - No, she must have a blue dash, i'll accept nothing else! God bless the GF, i'll always have her backing on this subject..... "You expect me to try and learn to drive a thing with one of those old grandad walnut dash things? You're havin a laugh, right?" - I'm only young and dumb once, and what I (she) wants, I (she!!!!) gets /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
