We're just about to take delivery of our new boat (Etap 21i) and it's the first boat we've ever brought. I would really appreciate some advice from the Forum as to exactly what sort of paperwork/documentation I should expect to receive so that I don't miss anything important... especially things to do with rights of ownership, CE categories etc... any advice would be much appreciated.

If I remember correctly you get a build certificate. conformity certificate and a receipt showing VAT paid.

You decide whether you register the boat on small ships Registration or Part 1. If on a marine mortgage they often insist on Part 1 as its like a land register and shows and mortgages etc.

The receipt is the important one as the French insist on originals on the boat and its an on the spot fine if you dont have it. If on a marine mortgage the mortgage co insist on keeping the orgininal receipt and writing on an obvious photocopy "certified as true signed Bill Bloggs". Never been stopped by French in 10 yrs but aware that many have and often wondered what they do about that not being an original.

Hope that Helps and good luck with the new boat.
