Are you looking to buy a new motor boat, or have you bought one, fairly recently ?

We are inviting a small group of such people to a market research discussion on the evening of Monday 11 October in a venue in Poole. I can assure you we wont be trying to sell anything, we are just seeking the opinions and views of boating enthusiasts and the evening should be a lot of fun. The discussion will last 2 hours and each participant will be offered £50 and light refreshments and a thank you for helping.

If you would be interested in finding out more about this or attending, please reply to ......... including your phone number and a convenient time to call you.

Whilst it may seem a good idea to hold such an event in a place like Poole I would sugest that you would have more likelyhood of a succesfull turnout in London or the Birmingham area.

A few questions:

What is the basis of your market research?
On who's behalf are you undertaking it?
Why have you not filled in your profile?
Are you aware that most people "cold calling" always say they are not trying to sell anything but then proceed to do exactly that.
Why would you want to give me £50 for no return
Why do you need my telephone number when you can PM me on here
If you are in market research and ask for my phone number where is the little box that says I won't be pestered if I don't want
Does your post comply with the data protection act.

What exactly is it you are selling?

Bought new boat in Spring this year. Would be happy to chip in (once your identity etc is revealed, which I assume it would be) and accept your kind offer of free beer, but in London not Poole. While many people sail on South Coast, many/most of them dont live there

I agree. Do your research in London and I'll gladly give you my pennies worth.

Re: I also run a market Research company...

This sounds quite genuine! the person who has asked for help sounds like a focus group recruiter. When a company wants to know something about their or another companies products they will ask a genuine market research company and they in turn will organise focus groups around the country! No salesman ever offers you money for your opinion! The money is always given up front when you attend and if you feel this is a sales ploy you have the option to leave!

A Market Research group recruiter will only be able to invite you to the specific venue that they have been asked to recruit to! so there is no way this lady will be able to change the date or venue.

She should of course tell you who he or she is, but may not or cannot tell you who the end client is because this may taint your opinion and thus the research!

She should be able to tell you the name of the Market Research Company that she is working for and you can contact the Market Research Society in London to make sure they are genuine! Tel: 020 7490 4911

Hope this helps anyone considering going! I should add that they are normally interesting and fun!

Barry

I cant see you having much success with this one. Theres no where to apply except here of course and I'm sure not many of us are daft enough to stick our phone numbers on here. The Kimotalla would be constantly swearing down the line at us about libel, ethnic minorities, and puffs!!l Anyway to save all the trouble of most of us lot having to go half way round the world, or at least a few hundred miles. Why dont you just spell out what you want on here and I'll PM you my address for the fifty quid. Ta.../forums/images/icons/smile.gif
