No name checks to save their blushes, but a quick note to say thank you to those on this forum who have been extremely helpful in providing information about this boat. I have a couple of (hopefully) minor points to resolve with the surveyor and an engine inspection to undergo, but everything is starting to look favorable towards completing this purchase shortly.

Lovely boat! Congrats.

NYA had one on their brokerage a few years back and we had a good look over it. We were impressed!

Why is this a brand I have hardly heard of?

It looks very smart, with timeless styling.
Congratulations!

they went out of business a few years ago and there were only 9 ( or some say 11) of these built. Its a real shame as the built quality and handling is fantastic. The moulds were outside the factory till a couple of years ago and rumour has it they went east so you may see something similair in the future.
They were in Oundle next to Fairline factory . They also got a licence to make the Atlantic boats which actually contributed to their demise sadly.

Thanks. I must admit I was slightly hesitant about buying a 1997 boat. Everything else we were considering was 2006 or later. We took the same view though, that the styling is timeless and because we knew we would need to update the interior upholstery etc. we were comfortable that by the time we've finished her overhaul, we will have a boat that is more solidly built, more sea-worthy, spacious and comfortable than anything else we could find for anywhere near the same price.

This is the most we've ever spent on a boat, and our first twin-screw motor boat (yachts and smaller motor boats before) so undoubtedly a learning curve, but we aim to keep her for a good length of time - whilst the kids grow up, at least.

Always fancied one of those. Nice boat. Congratulations on what I hope will be a successful purchase

Good to hear - they took that off on Friday and all being well she moves to Kip tomorrow and then onward on Tuesday. Ultimate destination is the Royal Southern in Hamble, but a bit of out of the water work to do first.

That's a fantastic boat. We were seriously thinking about buying it but decided to go for a yacht instead, but that was always our longer term plan. I know Bootlegger and the owner previous to the one you bought the boat from. He looked after the boat very well and I think I am correct to say was the first owner. Really solid, great layout and is a great sea boat. A really cIassy bit of kit and I am sure you will have a great time with Bootlegger. Congratulations.

Bootlegger arrived in Hamble yesterday. A protracted journey due to the police escort being a pain in Scotland causing a 12 hour delay and a puncture en route.

Getting down Hamble Lane was a squeeze, but after a quick wash down we're ready for the serious work. Bow/stern thrusters are being fitted by Osmotech and I'm about to get handy with my antifouling brush. Having already done one stint of antifouling this year (on the boat we sold) I can't say I'm really looking forward to it, but the weather is much better than when I did the last one (December/January).Hamble arrival.jpg Hamble arrival 2.jpg Hamble arrival 3.jpg
