I wonder how many others out there feel a bit deflated after completing a major re-fit or build, I've been living on my badger clone for 10 months. Now that all that's left to complete is the internal paint work and curtains, the drive to finish and go cruising has faded. Instead Im thinking of what the next boat could be

Sounds to me that your creative side is creater than the sailing side. Are you never happy without some problem to overcome, are you always planning the next job, if so, how about half finishing the next boat and go sailing, with the intention of finishing the job out there somewhere. The middle of nowhere does call for some extra special skills to get things done, but hey, that's all part of the fun, isn't it?

Tough luck Paulonvt, sounds like a nautical version of the Baby Blues.

I'm the exact opposite, start winter maintenance with the best of intentions, get p*ssed off after a weekend or two, ram everything back together as best as it will go, and go sailing anyway. This winter we've done several long trips with poly bags stuck over empty portlight frames and a torch in place of the non-functioning navlights (not much else around anyway).

Maybe you are more into doing up boats than sailing them - no problem, plenty are, its just as good a hobby.

Herb Payson, in his Advice to the Saillorn, put the problem nicely: At some point you have to decide whether your goal is to go cruising, or to get ready to go cruising.
