I've been working on a simple alarm system it was originally for fruit machines and cigarette machines but i am getting these made abroad now and am looking into further uses,
the alarm itself is a very simple alarm with a simple 360 degree PIR movement detector fitted , the alarm is set as you leave the room or can be switched on by text message from your own mobile, if anybody enters this room it will ring you on your mobile phone or send you a text message, you can also ring in silently and listen to what is going on in the room,
Also if the boat is stolen the alarm can be tracked for the price of a phone call , trying to find if there is any simple alarm system like this on the market looking to sell for around £200 , all as you do is buy a pay as you go simm card and it works, the alarm itself is a very neat round package of about 5" any feedback would be helpful

Welcome to the Forum, Scuder. A slight word of warning, perhaps ? We have had a number of people trying it on, in the advertising sense, for new businesses and products recently.

Advertising is verboten, but we are always ready to help with marine product design or prototyping; various forumites have had business ideas subjected to scrutiny, and I am sure that the product you have outlined would be of interest to many.

A couple of thoughts: It would be nice to link it to a camera as part of a burglar alarm, as well as having a live tracking service for geographical location.

IMHO, you are going to have to put a price tag much higher than 200 squids on it, though.

Stick some details about yourself and your boat in the bio. It all helps to establish your banana fides

Me and a partner developed a GPS based system 5 yrs ago with a lot more functions in it and we took it to Sunseeker and Princess, Fairline, and several other big marine electrical suppliers companies and they just weren't interested, we also had a car version which could tell you from a map datebase where the car was if stolen, and a truck and container tracking version, also a company here in Norway did a version but we found boat owners didn't want to spend the dosh on electronics unless it was a chart plotter or radar.
There are now loads of variants on the market some good, some mickey mouse, but I haven't seen a big interest in alarms in boats yet.

thanks for the replies sorry about the advertising not trying it on only trying to get info, already sold over 600 of the alarms in other markets just trying to see if it is viable for cars boats etc, I'll fill the info on my profile, great forum !!
