Cranking amps are the numbers of amperes a lead-acid battery at 32 degrees F (0 degrees C) can deliver for 30 seconds and maintain at least 1.2 volts per cell (7.2 volts for a 12 volt battery).

In other words, Cold Cranking amps ( 1000 ) determine how much power you have to start your boat engine.

Not an ideal choice for a house battery that is required to give considerably less amps over a long period. Batteries are built for different jobs so its worth getting the right battery even if it costs more. Also consider one with removable lids so you can top up the distilled water in it.

In my innocence I assumed that Karouise's battery being described as deep cycle meant that it was suitable for house duties and the cold cranking info was just additional information. I'm afraid I'm one of those who just get the cheapest "heavy duty" batteries I can find and hope for the best. Mine seem to last over six years.

Ignore the line that says "deep cycle" it be bollox.
