Not sure if this is news, but Snazi is opening a new dealership in Mayfair in October. I think the dealer is at SIBS, but I can't make it this year, so looking forward to the opening. I hope they are going to be supporting us with cherished Snazi's. :D

Hi,
I met the new dealer at the show. The lady in charge is very nice and keen to help. Her name is Elizabeth Curro and she will be running Azimut Yachts London. They will be the exclusive importer to the UK with back-up support directly from the Azimut shipyard as she called it.

I was recommended to register my boat on the Azimut website and any spares or support required to email initially with pics and part nos. if possible to:
info@azimut-benetti-group.co.uk

As Jez says, they have to better than CLipper.:ambivalence:

Yes Roger, I have exchanged e mails with Elisabeth.

They have the bells and whistles to compete with the three Brits, and more.
I think the Magellano line does not have any real competition built in UK if you want a modern semi displacement of a panache feel.

As for staying outsiders I really think if Azimut wants to get the UK market it will get it, they did and still rule the US market against all odds.
But the reality how much is the UK market over 40 feet is really worth. How many 40 feet motor boats are selling and staying in the UK.
If that answer is over 100+ it would be of high interest to Azimut. But I do think it is less to that.

Now if you go to the Med and East Coast of the USA that is a different pie, and Azimut rules and sells more then any other main stream builders in these market.

W, I'm actually skeptic that Vitelli would get out of bed for 40 boats at all, regardless of how big the market is... :)

Unless of course you wait till next year, albeit not built in UK but in EU, its a UK company behind it :-)

Doing a quality product is one thing, building a global brand recognized and known by all is another.

There is a certain thing behind Sunseeker, Azimut, Princess, Fairline, Cranchi. Ferretti, Absolute (not quite there yet but getting it) which you can speak to about a normal Joe and he knows about them.
Do the above build the best boats in the World. Very far from it, but the average Joe thinks this....

Good luck with your new brand Nautical I am sure it will be high quality. Also that new Outer Reef Trident series is another interesting concept.

If Azimut wanted the UK market they would have to spend far more time and money here than previous conquests. UK is small and all things being equal average Joe would buy a one of the 3 Brit boats, even Sealine. Mr. Joe also doesn't know what an Azimut is. I know this cos people frequently ask me what my boat is. Even Yotties..:ambivalence:

MapisM's point made about 40 ft being too small to bother is also important as a 40-45 foot boat in the Solent area is generally big enough as marinas are tight and larger boats 55-60 nearly always need to book ahead. 80-90 ft not really a starter in the UK. imho.

Wouldn't you agree?

There are lots of British buyers of large motoryachts, and whilst few of them choose to keep the boat in Britain, I think a lot are bought through UK dealers. I don't know the figures, but I wouldn't be surprised if only the US spends more as a country on large motoryachts than the UK.

I'm pretty sure these are the buyers that Azimut is targetting by opening a London office, not the 40 footer to be kept in the Solent.

I agree, and that is what I said in different words. Anyway British market to small to invest high resources for it.

btw I am surprised people do not know Azimut, do they know the sea has salt ;)

They sold over 500 of your 46 and 46 Evolution if my memory is serving me right. She is one of the most sold 14 meters flybridge cruisers ever...

IMO apart big investments they need a solid dedicated dealership with a financial back up for doing easy part exchanges and I am sure they can have a bigger pie of that market.

A decade ago the Maltese market was pretty shared out between Princess, Fairline, and Cranchi and Sealine taking the sub forty size.
The Azimut dealer was the same as Sealine, I use to present some brokerage Azimut, and most Maltese always said it is not a boat for the Maltese market.
Come 2005 Azimut-Atlantis gets a solid new dealership.
Today and since a few years (2008 on-wards) they have the highest share of new boats coming each year, about 50% are indeed Azimut.

So until now Azimut decided to ignore the city of London and focus on the Maltese market. Shrewd indeed! :D

You gotta be kidding. Remember your market isn't where the boats are moored; it' where your customers are. The UK market is biggest in European this size range, bar none. The UK customers don't keep their boats in UK waters of course.

The Brit market knows Azimut. RR was referring to folks who boat in the UK and who walked by his Azimut in UK waters. A lot of them will not know Azimut, but Azimut's potential UK market certainly knows who Azimut are

Agree with you on that J, London now home to twice the number of Millionaires and Billionaires than any other city in the world (FT quote) . It isn't a surprize that nearly every major broker house in the Super yacht arena has either head office or sub office in London.

New show coming early next year to Lonodn which we will be at with our bigger stuff, sold out already, some big names behind it and looks very promising for the London brokerage and new build market.
