new advice issued on Spanish matriculation tax

Thanks for that. I just hope the FEAPDT are right and all you need is a residence certificate (whatever that is?) rather than putting your boat out of commission for 183 days to prove you are not resident. Spanish regionial govts are more autonomous than the UK local govts and can interpret national laws differently
 
Finally a comment that makes sense.

Liveaboards need to pay and most others are fine.

In the bar today I also heard that the tax is based on the rate of tax paid originally reducing as years go by. Plus 100 hours on engines gives a discount!

This is essentially no different from the advice given by the RYA a couple of months ago. However it leaves more out than it includes as you would see if you went back over the threads on the Liveaboard forum.

Maybe the Tourist side of the Spanish economy recognises the negative effect if some of the extreme interpretations come to pass!

On the other hand it does seem to reflect peoples' experiences so maybe the semantic debates about the finer points such as what constitutes residency are irrelevant.
