They are the best I've ever seen in a marina. Separate little rooms with shower and toilet inside, very well done.

I've been a citizen of Swanwick for more than five years; the last few as a dinghy berthholder since I got my own Crown Estate mooring just opposite the marina. The marina has its pluses and minuses; the biggest minus being cost. But the new ablutions are unbelievably good. I normally shower on board, but running low on water, I take the dink across.

They have the same standard of ablutions at Premier's Chichester and Port Solent marinas as well. The poshest of all in many ways are those at Berthon's in Lymington, I reckon (though not a connoisseur of heads blocks!)

Even though I'm a Premier berth holder, I rate Lymington Yacht Haven's recently updated ablutions as the best in the Solent. The 3 Premier marinas mentioned above come a close second (equal). Berthon would be third, but lower on value for money!

I refuse to believe anything could match Portavadie ... complementary hair straighteners in the men's bogs there.

Yes I agree LYH showers etc are wonderful, like a 5* hotel, and masses of space to undress/dress. Each "washroom" has the choice of two types of shower head...massive square overhead type or flexible shower on a hose. Def the best I've ever been in too.

Lymington Yacht Haven are now too posh for us rough sailors.

They are all very nice, but with less than 10 for some 100's of boats and near where LYC charter boats can have 10/12 crew each, then and each of the charter crew appears to need to take forever to wash and enjoy the facilities, so it can take hours to get to the shower. Therefore too posh for practical use.

It was better in the days of cold drafty cubical with a plastic curtain, when a 3 minute wash and off to the bar was the order of the day. And i speak as someone who showers once a week if i need it or not! so i am a user of facilities.

P.S. Berthon's have too many mirrors facing mirrors and feel i am being stalked as i walk around.
