New 25% Duty payable on USA sourced boats?

Just spotted tucked away on the new EU duty tariffs for goods from the USA a section saying that all sea going motor boats or motor yachts from the USA will be subject to 25% duty. It goes on to say that 'other than outboard motor boats'.

Has anyone looked into it and can explain what that means in terms of the USA sportsboats such as Bayliner etc..

Most of Bayliners sold in the UK are made in Poland so probably no effect on them (until Brexit!)

Some brands such as Regal are made in USA so 25% straight onto those!

Looks like the duty on them will be 25%. The actual effect will depend on what the duty was previously? I dont even know where to look

Duty was 1.9%

So it’s quite a hike

Also duty is subject to VAT so that’s a tax on a tax
Basically you aren’t going to sell US boats in Europe for a while
