Just looking to sell my 10hp on eBay ( as you recommended!!) Though I would browse the cost of a small one for my tender.
Surprised to see a range of new 2 strokes at silly prices.
I thought that 2 strokes were not for sale in UK Anymore?
I don't recognise the make but they do seem very very cheap

New ones banned for pleasure but not commercial use.
rather like TBT anti foul

Take a little holiday in the Channel Islands and buy your 2T outboard there - no problems - infact buy 2 or 3 extra and sell them when you get back - just to help with the cost of the holiday

Are these the weird Soviet-looking Hangkai Chinese ones? Being sold on the basis that the RCD "ban" is supposedly the responsibility of Trading Standards, who have much better things to do enforcing laws that actually have a worthwhile purpose, and have to date displayed zero interest in the number of strokes in anybody's outboards.

You wouldn't want one anyway, though. There was one person on here who thought "how bad can it be? Looks rough round the edges, but probably works ok." He bought one, and posted vaguely positively about it.

Then came back a few weeks later saying it was complete junk and he regretted ever trying it :D

The feed back reports also criticised the amount of oil pollution from these engines. Common complaints are that the design and build are ok but the materials are inferior. I would have thought that they could have used the correct quality materials and still produced an engine at a very good price.

The ones you see on Ebay are usually drop-shipped from China or similar, if you send them an email, you get a lovely broken english e-mail back pretending that they are shipped out of their UK warehouse, but it'll take a while to get them ready, or some similar excused.

The practice is illegal, but as PRV says, try getting someone to care about it. Just for fun, I reported one of these drop-ship 2-stroke sellers to Ebay once, they didn't even bat an eyelid....

For the simple reason of not having any backup if it goes wrong, I'd say don't touch them, and buy two strokes 2nd hand, the legal injection-types for the larger models, or from the Channel Islands.
