new 2 stroke outboards at cheap prices!!

I'm sure it's not a Tohatsu. Describes as a Magic Motion 3.5 Funny the sellers shop is also called Magic motion.
Quote from the ad "Well the looks speak for themselves. A real headturner and recipe for fun on the water for young and old alike"
Sorry doesn't do it for me.
More likely to be a crap Chinese import with no aftersales or warranty.
Bad feedback reports as well.

A similar item, from the same seller, was posted on the forum some time back and IIRC the general consensus of opinion was a bit "iffy".

What is the ring located in front of the prop for - to slow one down?

Feedback on seller is not so good (extracted from seller's feedback on Ebay so available for all to review for themselves)

Seems the seller used "bully boy" tactics to force buyers to leave a positive feedback if one believes the feedback.

Makes one wonder how many of the positive feedbacks left were left "under duress" and how many are genuine.

Interesting also to note that the seller appears to leave a negative feedback on buyers who have left a negative feedback against him. In a number of cases the only negative feedback against the buyer is from the seller - seems a little childish.

FWIW I would not deal with this seller under any circumstances.

I have seen this geezers stuff on Ebay before, question is, why would anybody buy from somebody that had feedback like that? Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole meself!

Come back Arthur Daley, all is forgiven /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

thats ebay for you

Ebay in my view, just grabs the pennies and wont take responsibility for rogue traders meaning it’s obvious the seller is ripping people off.

But then any one can see feedback so if their that daft !!!!!

cheers
Mick

Re: thats ebay for you

There would seem to be an opportunity for some bright bod to start a website, about e bay but not tied in any way to e bay ,to make it possible for dodgy buyers and sellers to be Named and shamed..reading the above e bay advert for the o/b motor, there appear a list of seemingly positive feedbacks, which would trap the unwary. An independant website would enable the prospective punter to check out the credentials before committing himself. Perhaps there is one already?I'm sure someone will know.

Re: thats ebay for you

Which makes one wonder.

With sellers like this one, what is the use of a "Square Trade Seal" as displayed on so many sellers details?

Re: thats ebay for you

Far too many "damaged in post" feedback references to be true.

The guy is buying damaged/faulty goods and then selling as new; and as pointed out by mtb eBay don't give a toss.

Haven't used eBay for years as it's a hotbed for scammers yet eBay do nothing about it

I agree it probably not a good deal but its interesting the cowling is identical to the tohatsu. It could be a chinese rip off or maybe the design owners have sold it to them because the small 2 stroke days are numbered. Its a shame cos the tohatsu units are great, simple, reliable, light , powerful. The enviromental impact is minimal over the 4 stroke. It doesnt have sump oil like a 4 stroke which has to disposed of each service. 4 strokes also being more complex and having more weight take more energy to produce and more energy to push along.
Another example of "green madness" the like of which we shall see much more of now the main politicians have jumped on the bandwagon! Mind you I dont mind betting you will be still be able to get new small 2 strokes for a long time yet thanks to ebay etc. Two fingers to the EU!!!!!

Ok, lets put it to a vote?

"This guy is a shite"

Has anyone considered the fact that the outboard might be just that, Nothing inside the casing, could explain the plate at the prop, maybe that is what is holding the prop on as maybe no internals in gr bx.

Fantastic 'Chingish' though:-

"Terrific fun for all boating crazy people including Sailing, Powerboating, Dingy Racing, Yacht Cruisers and Yacht Racers & also all those people who enjoy being in the open water!"

"A REAL HIT IT HOT LEADING EDGE ITEM"

I am fascinated by that plate in front of the prop though.

Looks just like my Mariner .... but I don't have the "Magic Motion" ring in front of prop !!

He's a Powerseller ..... does that mean he "puts the boot in ?"

Seller vs Buyer ...

I know personally someone who sold gear in GC on eBay ... buyer paid over odds for it - his fault - so damages the gear and then claims against seller .... Paypal (by the way who are eBay ....) pulled back the money from sellers account and refunded buyer ... disregarding all statements / evidence from seller ....

So eBay is not so on Sellers side as many think ....
