People I met and hung with in 'St. Vincent were robbed of $25,000 worth of gear in Margarhita, they never really got over it, and one of the kids (about 14) developed a fear of visiting new places. Its not about the gear you lose I guess, that can be replaced, its about the fear you develop, which replaces your confidence faster than any bullet can fly at.
Hang on, just recalled, they were Canadian and boy did they talk... Sorry matey, your theory has been called into question!
Have worked out that it ain't worth nicking passports of Canadian boats, as I think I got it right in the end that it worked out all the crew just share one passport between them.
