Never throw overboard the only person who knows how to navigate

I must have the magic touch then! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Anyway, the forum post is about this article

Taiwan captain survives day at sea after being allegedly pushed overboard by crew member
TAIPEI (AP): A Taiwanese fishing boat captain survived a day at sea after an Indonesian crew member allegedly pushed him overboard following a dispute, an official said Monday.

Taiwanese Coast Guard spokesman Deng Wen-ming said Chen Wen-chen survived by hanging onto a fishing net flotation device attached by cable to the Taiwanese fishing boat "Hsien Ta."

Chen was accidentally rescued when the boat's eight Indonesian crew members hauled in the fishing net to check on the catch, Deng said. He said the crew later had him resume piloting the boat because no one else was trained to do the job.

It was unclear when the incident occurred, but Taiwanese newspapers said the "Hsien Ta" crew sent a message by radio on Friday that Chen was missing. The message asked for coast guard help because the crew was encountering difficulties controlling the boat, Deng said.

He said a Taiwanese patrol vessel was sent to the boat and picked up Chen and the crew early Monday from a position about 500 miles (800 kilometers) southeast of the southern tip of Taiwan.

Chen told members of the patrol vessel's crew that he was pushed overboard during a dispute, but did not specify what it was about, Deng said.

He said police would question the crew when they arrive at southern Taiwan's Pingtung port. (**)

Don't worry about that, appears to just be some dodgy script on one of the pop up adverts. Doesn't appear to be an actual virus, and if you got a warning, then no problems

Thanks Brendan, it was the Avast siren of oh cr9p that picked it up. I aborted the download as Avast prompted and then, after making above post, tried to revisit page to confirm it was the source (got a few windows open) but it would not download again. (jakatapress or similar).

badly written script on one of the pop ups I suspect

you should be able to open the jakartapress website unless you told Avast to block it in future. I just deleted the temp file, and didn't get any problems on subsequent visit, and also tried it from a different computer as well
So don't worry, nothing to worry about that I can see

Sorry about the problems reading it, folks...as a registered user of that site for several years, I had no idea so many safeguards had been added that make it all but impossible for anyone who isn't registered to only read it!

Blimey, you don't mind diving in with both feet do you /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Think I got the idea of the story so I'll stick to doing nothing on the basis there's a Brazilian other websites (which thread was that from?) that I'll probably visit before going back to jakatapress. Hope this doesn't put Headmistress off starting threads in future!

I hope so too, at least the thread got a lot of posts quite quickly! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I don't mind jumping in feet first, as I'm pretty secure, but try to have a setup that would be roughly the same as someone who has taken reasonable precautions, and I can recover very quickly if I get infected. Would rather I got infected and warn people, than let a problem get through

Despite having seen you post regularly over the couple of years I've been a member of this forum, the penny has only just dropped on your clever choice of userame Peggie. Very subtle, I like it!
