One for you computer wizards.
I have two computers in my office, one on my desk and one on my business partners desk. Now he must have messed about with something whilst I have been on my jollies and now he is receiving a duplicate of my emails.
How do I set our computers to receive only our personal email ?
Thanks in advance - Ian

Easy Peasy,

Assuming you're using Outlook / Outlook Express:-

Ont the top line menu goto Tools,
Select Email accounts
Make sure View or change existing E-mail accounts is tagged,
Click next, and you should get a list of accounts,
Highlight the one to go, and hit Delete.
You're done

Depending on which version you've got - the descriptions etc may be different.

You can have as many accounts as you like (I've got a dozen), and you only need to connect once to the Internet - then use that connection to collect your mails from where-ever. I add this 'cos peeps aren't aware of this capability.

Before you go deleting any settings, check that you collegue hasn't set the something to forward your messages to him.
He might have done this as you were away!

I'm curently looking at my (unused) copy of Outlook Express V6 - which I thing is current-ish. Starting at "Accounts" which you have found:-
  1. You get a box labelled "Internet Accounts"
  2. Select "Mail" on the top tab ('All' does the same - just includes news groups and other crud)
  3. You should get a list of all you mail accounts. If your chum had given them decent name then they'll say 'mine' and 'his'. Otherwise it'll be a name made up my Microsoft...
  4. Double click on the first likely one and under 'General' (the default) you should see somebody's email address.
  5. If that's the one you want to delete click on 'cancel' to go back to the previous panel, single click on that account and hit 'Remove' over on the RHS.

Note:- Words and figures can vary, your opinion of Microsoft can go up as well as down....

If the aforementioned person has done the job properly (which I have no reason to doubt), then if you look under the 'advanced' tab down the bottom under 'delivery', you should see that ' Leave a copy of messages on server' is ticked. If so what happens is that he can review your messages, and when you come back in again, you pick up the messages again (for any action) and they are then removed from your ISP's mail server. (or the converse - depending on which machine you are looking at).

Is that a bit clearer. Sorry for the jargon, but it's a bit difficult to explain what all the tabs, boxes, panes etc etc mean - and I can't copy and past graphics here...
