So what do you do if your marina tell you that whilst you've been away for a week or so some coots have nested on your bathing platform and you now can't use your boat until they've fledged? That could be 6 weeks or so! And RSPB have been informed so it's official so to speak.

So what now?

Think there is a catch all nesting wild bird issue now, unless a danger to life is envolved.
We had sparrows nesting in our roof, the council said we do not like your roof tiles change them now, the RSPB said do not touch the roof till the birds have fledged. Council said we will take you to court for not changing roof, RSPB said we would be taken to court if we distroyed the nest. So the council take us to court,by the time we get there the birds have flown, and the roof is off, what a country we live in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Good innit . I used to operate a tractor cutting the river banks and whenever someone found a nest we were told to pull out till the little shitters on boats had flown , so we used to sneak in and move any nests we found before anyone else saw them . Only way to get the job done really

Free mooring since the marina has told the RSPB. Alternatively, take the cat for a sail. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You should have put a 'No Nesting' sign on your transom.

To avoid this problem on my dayboat I rig bean netting across the transom so that they nest somewhere else. Some of the less active boats on our river moorings get geese nesting on board!

Very , very carefully cast off so as not to disturb the little birdies.

Motor slowly towards France

When you arrive , berth very gently ..

Go ashore and point the little birdies out to a Frenchman.

Problem solved 'Shot for the Pot' in no time at all.

May be in jest but oh so British for someone ( a neighbour ? ) to watch this happen and then tell the RSPB so that your enjoyment is knackered instead of 'moving the would-be parents on; meanwhile they sail off into the sunset bemoaning the stupidity of HM Government (who said we don't get the politicians that we deserve?)
