nereus bilge alarm

has anyone got one of these? are they as waterproof as they claim to be - and worth the money? I always thought it was really hard to make a gas alarm waterproof which was why there were none - although i guess that would explain why they're so expensive!

A waterproof sensor sounds intriguing. What's the cunning technology behind it?

I have absolutely no idea - found them here http://www.nereusalarms.co.uk/html/gas_alarm_systems_for_boats.html and was thninking about getting one however I wasn't really sure whether it was just a bit of a gimick or whether it actually worked seeing as there's no mention of how it does it!

Yes they really are waterproof as I proved when one of my fresh water hoses came loose and I washed the bilges.

And they do work I puffed some gas at it once dry and it alarmed. I know of one sea school thats using them because they got fed up replacing non waterproof sensors.
