I wonder if anyone out there can help with this anode query for my cat.
I'm on the hard in Croatia and brought with me two SD20 saildrive pencil anodes (the anode behind the 32mm nut on the side of the gearbox). I had spoken to a couple of suppliers in the UK before I can out here and everyone agreed that part number CM272100200300Z was the correct part.
However, when I removed the existing anode it is almost twice the length of the above part and should therefore last a lot longer.
Dimensions are as follows:
CM272100200300Z - overall length 41mm, zinc length 30mm, M8 thread length 11mm, zinc diameter 20mm
Existing Anode spec - overall length 66mm, zinc length 55mm, M8 thread length 11mm, zinc diameter 20mm
Even though the existing anode was perhaps 25% eroded, it was still significantly heavier that than "correct" part so I have put the old anodes back.
I called in at the marina chandlery and he looked at the anodes and consulted his parts book and believes that the small anode is indeed the correct part and that the longer anode has probably been specially made. This seems unlikely although I have searched the web and must admit that I can't find a 20mm diameter pencil anode with an 11mm M8 thread and a 55mm long zinc!
Has anyone else been down this particular route and did you find a part number for the long anode?
Many thanks
Richard
Just in case anyone else stumbles across this thread, I have solved the problem. The alternative higher-weight anode for Yanmar saildrives, including the SD20, is part number 27210-200550. A couple of £s more expensive than the short anode but worth the extra expense I reckon!
