When we brought our Neptunian some years ago it came with a lot of spare gear. One item was a sail, which stupidly I assumed was another jib, and as a result it got put in the loft and forgotten about; until now. Having looked at it again I think that it might be a mizzen staysail, but I'm not sure how to rig it. I've googled it and come up with some information which is generic. The question is have you actually rigged, or seen one rigged on a Neptunian?

All information greatly received.

Thanks
Nigel

No, I don't think so. The cut of it looks different. At first I thought that it might be something like a Yankee jib, but I would have associated it with a cutter rig.

Does it have any hanks or even luff tape?

A mizzen staysail would have neither as they are normally set free-flying.
Mizzen staysails are also commonly made of nylon similar to spinnakers, although there are plenty of exceptions as mizzen staysails were often cut from old headsails.

My drawing of the Neptunian sloop sailplan shows four headsails including the club-footed jib. Quite a few different shapes to try and match!

It shows up on my plans as having one because it has running back stays on the mizzen. The sail I have feels like a jib in terms of material, but it has no hanks.
